Well, after the optimism of the last post, gloom has become the more relavent emotion on the Girl front. As alluded to in the last post, it’s was pretty difficult to actually get a decent conversation with her. Next conversation was Friday and did last a while. However, no replies to either of my calls yesterday. To me this indicates one of two things:
The latter more positive, the former the one you’re forced to presume to be the case. Either way, not exactly a portent for much contact in the future. I’m not holding out much hope for it. Shame, ‘cause she did seem pretty interesting and amusing.
It feels good. If people wanna come to our show and hear their jam — that’s fine! At one of the festivals, we went on for an encore, and the crowd was chanting it. Ben Blackwell [Dirtbombs drummer, Jack’s cousin] said, ’That’s the only time I ever heard a crowd chant a riff!’
From an interview this weekend in The Guardian.
That was us at Lowlands. That was fucking well us! JACK WHITE REMEMBERED US!
I’m speaking to the Girl on the phone, but she’s busy doing some essay or other.
“Stop distracting me, I need to do this essay! The effects of coffee will be wearing off soon!”
“So, we can actually talk for more than five minutes soon?” [I only met her recently]
“Ideally, yes.”
Curious use of language and wants to speak to me again? Sounds like my kind of girl; rock and/or roll, kids.
As far as I can see, the re-election of Bush is a bad thing, both for America and the World. Note this is heavily biased by my views =P
Iraq
Prior to the invasion of Iraq there may have been terrorists in Iraq. Now there most certainly are: they are killing Iraqis nearly every day. There have been far more Iraqi civilians killed in the invasion of Iraq than people killed by terrorists in the USA that wouldn’t be dead if we hadn’t invaded Iraq. Never mind that many have been killed by the terrorists now in Iraq, they would still be alive if we hadn’t invaded their country.
I'd hoped it wouldn't happen; I thought it would happen. It appears it will happen.
